Bunny realized that parents are getting on in years because..

..Bunny is now taller than both of them.

..and because Bunnymom's face used to be the shape of oval, now it's the shape of a box.

..and because Bunnydad's once fitted trouser, got longer.

..and because they sleep the soundest when watching exciting flicks!

More Trees

Olalala Everybody! Did everyone got fatter over the holidays?? I sure did. But it is our birth rights to indulge during the holidays isn't that right? There's nothing to lose except maybe a little dignity. Dignity Schmignity!

Anyway, I was busy eating and busy resting after eating for the last two weeks so I didn't draw anything. But I have to get back on the horse if I want to avoid an inspection by the Art Police! And conveniently the trees outside my window today is sunny and the leaves are swaying and my conscience is nagging me so I did it. It actually didn't start out so well, I was a bit afraid that my rusty fat fingers is finally giving me revenge on my laziness, but I managed eventually to finish at least. As to whether it is a piece of acceptable 'a-r-t' I'll have to call the Art Police later this week and see what they say.

Bunny's fondest memories of Grandma

Bunny's fondest memories of Grandma starts with Sunday mornings, when bunny slowly woke up and found Grandma sitting quietly on the side of bed, reading newspapers.

When bunny got home from school in the afternoon, bunny's parent wouldn't be home yet and there's still hours until dinner, bunny would ask Grandma to make warm sugar water and bunny would savor it by the spoonful.

When Grandma visited bunny in Vancouver during Summer vacations, we raked our lawn for weeds and watered our garden, and afterward we sat on the stairs of our back porch in sunset and played word games.

Now Grandma is in a jar, sitting far away on a foggy hill. Bunny is doing its best remembering the fondest bits of our time together.

Bunny's talking device

Bunny made a brilliant pair of talking devices for communicating. Except it might not work so well due to User Errors.

Trees outside my window

Hello oh lalala everybody (tossing rose petals)~

So my mom didn't buy the excuse that I need to pack and relax, mom said I can relax when I go back home . So I painted again, but only from what I saw outside my window (I'm very insisting on the easy and relaxing bit, I'll be damned if I have to drive all the way out to some place to paint and endure the bitter coldness and burdened bladder for hours).

Something happened to me last night while I was sleeping that I must take note. I came to realize that sometimes while I'm sleeping, I unconsciously scratch myself on the face or shoulders. Last night I half woke up finding my left index finger wondering aimlessly around my nose, it seemed to me that it was hoping to pick my nose but lacking the muscle strength and precision to achieve a satisfactory result. Therefore I decided to help it along but unfortunately the finger failed miserably and ended up jabbing the side of my nose in a rude manner. That woke me up completely. I didn't know who to blame and was peeved for the next few minutes until I fell asleep again. That's all I wanted to share.

Globe and Music Box Render

Oh Lalala Hello Everybody~ (as if the whole world is reading this blog. When in fact my most faithful reader is my mom .)

Speaking of my mom, my mom is a retired high school art teacher, and my dad has been a professor of interior design for over a decade now. Here they are again:

BUT! Do not be fooled by their gentle and non-threatening appearance, because in fact, they are a pair Art Police.

People might be wondering why I post once a week. (actually nobody noticed) But the reason why I post once a week is because I call my mom once a week, and if she didn't see a new post on this blog every week I would be "reminded" that I should doing something about it. And then the phone would be passed on to my dad who never fails to deliver his standard 5 minute monologue about 'sketch everyday of everything', 'I've been at this for several decades I know what I'm talking about', and finally 'If I wasn't so tired with full-time teaching everyday I would totally sketch all the time'.

But I digress.

This week I finished two renders that I've been working on for the last three weeks. If you want to see them animated then go here.

(I was seriously considering saving the second render for next week's post, cause I have a feeling I probably would be too lazy to make any more stuff.) I'd be too busy packing for my trip going home to see my family. That sounds like a totally legitimate excuse!

Small Cabinet

Bunny was asked to sit in this really small file cabinet, but it just doesn't fit as bunny tried to shove in its behind fruitlessly. The labored afford had caused a racket and Turtle granted it a disapproving look.

Oh yeah my new website is done

The link is here.
Updating my website made me realize how much I sucked I mean how much I've improved over the years.... Better take those crappy drawings down quickly before anyone else sees them. Hmm, that means five years later I'm gonna look back at this and feel equally embarrassed. But hopefully I'll be fabulously famous by then and anyone who says otherwise will get a "off with their heads!" Muahahaha ... .ha.

Old Record Player Render

I spend two weeks on this gramophone, the model was bought online but it was way too high poly and I ended up rebuilding half of it. It is fun to make Asian style art, I'll see if I can do more of it.

Face Render

I found this face model on Modo's inventory so I used it. It wasn't very good looking and I had to adjust it a lot, especially the ears. I tried my best to make the skin look decent using Modo's shader system, in theory there should be more layers and the shader should be more complicated. But considering I'm doing this at home with nobody to help me figuring stuff out and I had instant noodles for lunch today cause I had no time to make better lunch this is good enough.

One night I was scrutinizing over the render and trying to see what should be fixed next, I was suddenly afraid that the eyes would open up and look back at me. But that wouldn't happen because 1. it's silly and 2. I didn't make any eyeballs for it, so there's nothing behind those eyelids! (Somehow that sounds even more scary.)

Miniature French Chair Render

I bought the model on-line and tweaked it quite a bit, and redid all the UVs cause it was unusable. Texturing this one is pretty fun. I still need to learn more about Modo's rendering tricks, but it's not too difficult to handle.

I'm working on some photoreal texture work.

Tuesday Gesture Drawing & Long Pose

That model doesn't really have that much of a pony tail, I just saw him as a top Arabic assassin, and he whips his hair tail to wrap around people's neck and rips it off! Right now he's pondering on his next move, because he had doubts whether his opponent really deserves to be dead.

Tuesday Gesture and Long Pose

This gesture class we were told to concentrate on bring out the story side of the poses, think about what are the models doing first, and the drawing must communicate that successfully. I also got some corrections from the instructor, which made the drawing made much more sense.

The long pose model has a face that belongs on a dollar bill, I'm sure one of them Kennedys or Roosevelts looks just like that. I suggested to him that he can have career being politicians' double; good money, though they tend to get assassinated.

Trees

I'm always on the look out for good looking trees these days, I found a couple in Bend, Oregon this week while vacationing there. There are mostly pines and junipers up there, not too interesting shape-wise, and sometimes there's a good one but it's well concealed, so it's hard to find the perfect one in a visually pleasing setting.

Tuesday Gesture Drawing & Long Pose

This nice looking black girl is back for a two week pose, yay. She's very interesting to draw.

On another note, I have several nemesis in my life, one of them is the revolving door. I have not yet successfully passed through one without making a fool of myself. It happened again today :-(.

Tuesday Gesture Drawing & Long Pose

I sort of drew the model as if there were a wheel of stinky cheese under her nose hahaha.

Tuesday Gesture Drawing & Long Pose

Today's gesture drawing pasted by really fast, I didn't feel like it was an hour and half at all. All I remember was I didn't have enough time to finish my sketch again and again, and then the time was up.
It was a two week pose for the long pose session, I thought I try watercolor and ink today on the same model.

Tuesday Night Long Pose

I only caught the end of gestures at noon due to meetings, so not much to show there. I'm studying how other story artists do their gestures and hopefully rub off on some of their greatness someday.
