RoadTripPost6

My friend made me play with clay, I made the bunny and he made the mushrooms, and we did I tonal study of it in oil. At least that what I thought we did, I sort of stumbled through the whole thing and I only remembered that I was told over and over again not to hold my paint brush too close to the front tip. I had a lot of fun though, it was really nice painting with a friend. I would like to have more painting friends.

The last restaurant we ate at in Forks. While my husband was paying the check at the cashier, the waitress was eying my husband in a smoldering and flirty way, I was surprised but very intrigued. I pulled my hat down, stepped back a little in silence, and observed her. It was very interested watching another woman looking at him, but he finished signing and headed out, completely unaware of it (probably the only thing he was aware of at the time was his full stomach and tight belt). Still, I was a little proud that my man got checked out.

RoadTripPost5

Bella Italia! It's supposedly where Bella and Edward had their first date, but of course that was shot somewhere else. I was all set on having Mushroom Ravioli, I imagined that dish comes with rosy fantasies with romantic hopes and dreams, but then I overheard a mom next table asking her little girl "don't you want mushroom ravioli? It's what Bella had!" A sense of shame took over me and I went for Cioppino cause it seemed like a more grown up choice for someone whose rosy dreams were deeply buried under husband's sweaty laundry.

A small river near Cape Flattery.

RoadTripPost4

This is oil, I was coerced into using oil by my friend for the first time in years, but I'm contemplating buying myself an oil set now. I used to think it's extremely troublesome but not anymore, I can just the essentials and it'll still be travel-able. It's like when you're locked out of your apartment and your phone was out of power and you were forced to ring one of your neighbors door bell who has long scars and missing teeth and looked like he's done some serious time, you saw that he was in the middle of knitting a baby hat and there's cookie baking smell wafting out of his door. The world is friendly and welcoming after all.

The Veela Cafe in Port Angeles where we spent an hour waiting to be hungry so we can go eat at Bella Italia ~ But I think this Veela reference is from Harry Potter. Vamps and Wizards references everywhere, this is my town!

The Fork's Coffee shop again, one of the most saddening thing in the world is when realizing we were too late for pancakes.

RoadTripPost3

Port Angeles.

Twilight burger joint. The posters were kind of faded and curled up at the corners. But I still would go there just because the posters exist; it's like a black widow's web for helpless insects.

No twilight memorabilia on the wall of this one. It was a very odd bar, it looked like it's made of three rooms: normal bar, band stage+dart floor+dance hall, and a junky's bedroom with a dirty mattress in the corner. We had hot wings and nachos (life expectancy -1) in the dance hall and stared at the junky mattress and the bar's bathroom while we ate.

I have grown quite fond of this little room. It's been awhile that I have my own bed so every night I rearrange the sheets to the way I like it and read Breaking Dawn till I fall asleep.

RoadTripPost2

Fine, I'll confess I'm a Twilight Fan. The first drawing on top was Jacob's house (Scream!!!) And for this trip I stayed six days in Forks and bought some very expensive Twilight memorabilia. (I'm Team Bella if you're wondering.)

RoadTripPost1

I went on a road trip up the pacific northwest, through Oregon, Washington, BC and then back down. As a passenger and a person who wants to sketch crawl through the trip, I have to make do with what scenery I see that is not moving. Naturally the means i get to do a lot of eateries cause that when we stopped, and have idle time while waiting for food. Unless there's a very important spot that I have to scream for stops and risk traffic accidents, I usually just go with the flow. Plus my dad kept saying 'you can sketch anything and everything', so here are a bunch of anythings.

Bunny's red dress

Bunny used to have a pretty red dress.

It was an awesome dress for flailing around,

and twirling about,

and for sitting on brother's bouncing ball and hiding it under the skirt and pretend there was no ball.

First matte painting homework

Hello everybody,

I'm taking a matte painting class and it is really fun, lots of interesting things to learn in matte painting and it's not just pixel pushing like I thought. This is my first assignment, still very amateur looking, but everyone's gotta start somewhere.

Bunny's Edible Pillow

Bunny bought a new pillow.

It was very thick and squarish with a creamy color.

A creamy color like vanilla bars.

With chocolate coating on the outside.

Bunny needs to go finshing...

... for Babel Fish, to be exact. Because it is very difficult to communicate with people when you don't understand what they are saying.

Trying my hands on Matte Painting

Hellolo Olala everybody~
I'm taking a Matte Painting class. There's a lot to learn in this class so I don't have much time doing watercolor.

The first image is my first idea for the matte painting, based on a sketch I had before, the back story is, sock monkey is taking a risky trip getting across a big cliff to the other side, where he saw something dreamy and attractive. But when seen close up, the object was actually old and dilapidated, it only looked nice from afar.

In the second one I took the idea further and it looked more like a matte painting. The rocking horse is now sculptures coming out of the cliffs, kinda like Mt. Rushmore.

It's raining man

Pitterpatter hello everybody~

It's been raining for a week. I was supposed to go on a blimp ride yesterday and it was rescheduled due to bad weather. I really like rain though, I especially like falling asleep with the sound of it, for some reason it makes me feel safe. It probably has to do with my childhood memory of typhoons. I always kept wishing it gets stormier so they cancel school the next day. And when that happens it was the best thing in the world.

A very cold lake outing

Hello everybody~

Like I promised, I went back to Lake Chabot, but the temperature had plummeted since my last visit, so this outing involved more sniffling and shivering. I did this one from photo again because the one I did on the spot didn't turn out great cause I was more blowing my nose than painting and the sun inconsiderately went away while I'm half way through.

Bunny's Bao-disaster of 2011

It begin when bunny found Bao in the supermarket.

Bunny took it home and carefully balanced Bao on top of a bowl of soup in the trusty steamer.

And waited...

But when the wait is over and Bunny open the steamer, Bao had fallen into the soup!!!!

NOOOO.....DO.. NOT.. WANT!!!

The other view

Hellohello everybody!

This was another view of that beautiful lake, I was going to sit and paint this one but my husband was playing Jeopardy with me and said 'are you sure this is your final decision??' so I got weak and I kept walking.. That lake I tell you, I feel like a kid in the candy store, so many beautiful views. But since last weekend the temperature had dropped precipitously, so it's a bit uncomfortable to go out now, so I painted from photo today, in my own very warm and comfortable Hello Kitty pajamas.
